Paco PestaNa

Galician sculptor

Paco Pestana Díaz was a Galician sculptor. He was born in 1949 in Peredo (Castroverde, Lugo) and spent his last days in O Forno de Catuxa (Esperante, Lugo), a rural tourism accommodation in which he was finishing several works made ad hoc. He died there suddenly on October 11, 2021 and his last works remain there. Pestana was a singular artist and alien to any stereotype. His work was born from his experiences as a rural child and combined his creative audacity with his fascination for Galicia. It was the landscape and the people of this land that forged his sharp and irreverent perspective. That which has made him one of the relevant and authentic figures of the contemporary art scene.

O Forno de Catuxa is a place full of friends and art.
A refuge in which we love, protect and vindicate artists.
To those creative and free beings who make our world a better place.

On June 24, 2024, we wanted to pay tribute to Paco Pestana, one of the greats.
A contemporary who deserves our respect and admiration.

The day was bright and the house was full of friends.
It was wonderful to inaugurate his latest works, made and exhibited in this house.
And we were excited to discover the sculpture that Xoan Vila made in his honor.
