The house

A house of stone and wood.
Galician from medium to medium.
Just as it was 300 years ago but cozy.
With those details that make you feel special.

Rustic, village, with history, legend and art.

Warm and sustainable because it has underfloor heating and solar panels.
In summer, it’s cool.
In winter, warm.

The Rooms

You will sleep in spaces that preserve the stone and beams of three centuries ago.
Rooms with personality and comfort.
All have underfloor heating, a bathroom, a fridge and a coffee machine.
The headboards are ethnographic elements, the dressing rooms, pure craftsmanship.
In the bathroom you will find centuries-old wood, slate and marble sinks.
And you’ll think you’re showering in the river or in the forest…

1 The wolf suite, 30 m2 with views of the oven, the Pestana tree, the stars and the forest from which the wolves still lurk.

2 The one with the light, on the corner, with a gallery and the patina of an artisan and an artist.

3 That of memory, an impressive room with a lot of history: the hiding room that during the war served as a refuge for three residents of the area, whose names, anchored to our childhoods, still resonate in the memory.

4 The jasmine house, with the original built-in furniture, views of the stars, and a window to the slate hayloft.

5 The one in the garden, with slate and direct access to the green areas of the house

6 That of the hollies, with beams that are works of art, green slate on the ground and located in front of an evocative hayloft, built of slate and granite

7 The pilgrim’s room, with a double entrance and granite vents, once made for cattle

CATuXa's Kitchen

It’s authentic, like everything we offer you. We have preserved everything: the marble with its traces, which are its intrahistory; the iron kitchen in which many generations shared stews, laughter and tears; the marble sink and the authentic family bench. There you can enjoy a magnificent breakfast with quality and km0 products while you imagine what others have experienced over three centuries in that same place….

The
Living room

Imposing room 8 meters high. Built in slate, surrounded by art and with spectacular stained glass windows designed by the artist Anxo Barreiro and executed by another artist: Victoriano Quiñoy.
The Outside

THE FOOTPRINT OF PACO PESTANA

In addition to the house, we have a magical space.
It is called Círculo Pestana, in honor of the sculptor and dear friend Paco Pestana who, on October 11, 2021, without warning and so much in his style, left…

Here he spent happy days, created beauty, cooked, made cider and made us laugh.
Here he said goodbye without saying goodbye… and since we love him so much and he lives in our memory, for him this space is bright, always full of friends and good vibes, colorful and unique, like him.

There is also a special tree, an impressive natural sculpture, made by itself and with the patina left by Paco Pestana. It is in a space that the artist baptized as Prado Agro Pop, in which he left other works that he finished shortly before he died: a Celtic chieftain’s armchair, a blue pig and a spectacular altar composed of a one-ton piece of slate sitting on a wooden log. It’s perfect for yoga, meditation, or crossword puzzles. And also to sleep. At his feet are chickens, sheep and dogs. In perfect harmony. In serene communion.

Primitivo das Raposeiras is Pestana’s last work, made with an original beam from the Catuxa kiln. It is on the threshing floor, standing tall in front of the haystack, 4 meters high and imposing. A challenge to time and a tribute to Galicia.

Bread, frogs and howls

We have an oven to make bread. Here it was kneaded 300 years ago and we still do it today. It is made of stone. An original construction of Galicia and when you come, it will seem like something out of a fairy tale… And yes, we have a lot to tell you.

There are also:

  • A beautiful viewpoint of the swallows (das anduriñas, in Galician), overlooking a spectacular hardwood forest. There you can spend your time reading, observing, stunning… while you listen to the trill of hundreds of birds that do not close their beaks…
  • An original hayloft, with three centuries of history and so much history that it does not even fit in three centuries.
  • A very coquettish stone hut where our beloved Pestana dreamed to live and lived to dream.
  • One was made of granite and slate, where family life was once held. He keeps the memory of the work in the fields, hard and from dawn to dusk. It preserves the history of the countrymen threshing wheat and rye and keeping the fruit in the tulla, which is still there, standing, defying new habits and trades. Now sheltering artists like Paco Pestana…, and so many friends.
  • An eco, eco, eco greenhouse.
  • A pond of frogs, with more than half a century on its back.
  • An organic garden.
  • And much more…
